The Red Company of Remas - Warhammer Dogs of War

Disclaimer: These are unofficial rules. I do not own the rights to the name Red Company of Remas. This is based off an old entry in the 5th Edition Dogs of War Rulebook.

The Red Company of Remas is a fan-created Regiment of Renown designed for narrative and friendly games of Warhammer Fantasy. It is not an official product or rule set from Games Workshop. Be sure to check with your opponent before including this regiment in your games.

The Red Company of Remas is only briefly mentioned by name in the official 5th Edition Warhammer: Dogs of War rulebook, specifically in the entry for Braganza’s Besiegers. The name is canon, and I do not claim ownership of it.

I’ve always interpreted this as Games Workshop encouraging players to use existing models to represent this regiment. Personally, I envision the Red Company as resembling the Alcatani Fellowship but clad in red armor. I have always assumed that they would just follow the same rules as basic pikemen. This interpretation has guided my approach to bringing the Red Company of Remas to life on the tabletop.

Regiment of Renown: The Red Company of Remas

Background

The Red Company of Remas is one of Tilea’s most infamous free companies, known for their bold exploits and blood-red uniforms. Hailing from the grand city of Remas, they have carved a name for themselves as disciplined and fiercely loyal mercenaries. Their crimson armor serves as both an homage to their homeland and a mark of their deadly reputation.

The company is led by Captain Vittorio Lanzoni, a charismatic yet vengeful leader who harbors a bitter grudge against Luka Braganza, the captain of Braganza’s Besiegers. This vendetta stems from an ill-fated ambush in the Apuccini Mountains, where the Red Company attempted to intercept Braganza’s caravan returning from the Border Princes. Despite their tactical prowess, the Red Company was repelled by the stalwart Braganza’s Besiegers, their failure etched into the annals of Tilean mercenary lore. Since that day, Captain Lanzoni has vowed to one day defeat Braganza and restore the honor of his regiment.

Despite their defeat, the Red Company of Remas is still highly sought after for their combat discipline and the fearsome sight of their ranks of gleaming pikes. Their professionalism and loyalty to their contracts make them a valuable addition to any general’s army.

Unit Size:
10 models, including Captain Vittorio Lanzoni, a Banner Bearer, and a Musician. The unit may be expanded to a maximum of 30 models for +10 points per model.

Banner Bearer: The Banner Bearer grants +1 Combat Resolution.

Special Rules:

Pike Formation: The Red Company follows the standard rules for Pikemen in the Dogs of War army list.
Vendetta Against Braganza: The Red Company harbors a deep-seated Hatred for Braganza’s Besiegers. If both regiments are included in the same army, the Red Company of Remas must take a Leadership test at the start of each turn if Braganza’s Besiegers are within 12″. On a failed test, the Red Company will immediately turn on the Besiegers and attack them, treating them as an enemy unit for the remainder of the battle.
Determined Resolve: The Red Company may re-roll one failed Leadership test per game.
