Why Miniatures?
I started collecting miniatures when I was 11. My mom bought me my first boxed set, Dungeons and Dragons Basic Heroes Set, from a Columbus store called Hobbyland in 1993. That sparked my fascination with miniatures. Soon after, I discovered White Dwarf Magazine at Little Professor, a local bookstore. One issue featured a battle report between the Space Wolves and Orks. The vivid pictures of painted miniatures and the strategic gameplay captured my imagination. I knew then that I wanted to dive into Warhammer 40k.
During this time, my dad owned a nearby restaurant. While he worked, I had two choices—hang out in his office or wander the strip mall. Naturally, I chose to explore. That’s when I stumbled upon two games that would shape my passion: Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer. These formative experiences set me on a lifelong path of collecting, painting, and crafting my own armies and stories.
Why Candles?
I’ve always loved candles and scents, especially those that evoke the spirit of Halloween and the essence of pumpkins. Every October, I would buy a pumpkin-scented candle, though I can’t quite remember when that tradition began. Over the years, my collection of pumpkin candles grew, each one bringing a sense of warmth and nostalgia.
One day, I decided to try making my own candles. Kamerin and I jumped into the process together, and we both enjoyed it immensely. Now, we aim to tell stories through scents, much like we do with tea and miniatures. Each candle we create captures a unique narrative, blending our passions into fragrant memories.
Why Tea?
I grew up around tea. As a child, my grandmother made Chinese Oolong tea every day. She boiled water and poured it over loose-leaf Oolong from the local Chinese market. My parents also owned a Chinese restaurant, so I had constant access to tea.
In 2004, I discovered there was more to tea than what we served at the restaurant. Besides Jasmine, Oolong, and Chrysanthemum tea, I found white, green, red, herbal, and black teas. This sparked my interest, and I started my first tea business. Unfortunately, it failed after two years due to poor branding and marketing.
I gave up on tea until 2024. This time, I decided to learn more about blending and growing my own herbs. After much experimentation, I feel ready to restart my tea business with a fresh approach. Now I feel like I can tell a story with tea along side miniatures and candles.
Why Halloween?
I’ve always had a deep love for horror movies and anything spooky. From an early age, I felt naturally drawn to the macabre and darker themes. The eerie and unsettling aspects of horror always fascinated me, fueling my imagination and giving me a thrill like no other genre could.
It all began with “Saturday Nightmares,” which aired every weekend when I was a kid. My mom would take my brother and me to Dairy Mart, where we’d pick out our favorite candy and snacks. Then we’d head home and settle in to watch horror movies on the USA Network. Those evenings became a cherished ritual, filled with suspense and excitement, and solidified my love for the genre.
As for Halloween, I can’t pinpoint when I first fell in love with its aesthetic, but it always brings me joy. There’s something about the crisp fall air, the vibrant orange leaves, and the quirky, funny look of jack-o’-lanterns that makes me feel happy. Even when I had my first pumpkin latte in 2008, it seemed to complete the experience. For me, it’s not just the spookiness but the fun, festive energy that makes this season so special.

He opened an online store where he could share these unique interests with the world, offering carefully curated products that reflect his hobbies and the things he loves most. Kamerin
Kamerin is the lead maker of Kam’s Kandles. She enjoys making candles and experimenting with new scents, always seeking to perfect each unique creation. She also loves spending time with her family (mom, grandma and sisters), dining out at restaurants, and watching horror movies for inspiration for her next candle.
